Water nourishes, cleanses, and brings opportunity for sport. Even if our planet didn't need it to live, the earth without water would produce a cultural desert we would likely not survive.

Seriously, though. The rain, the sea, the tracks of my tears - all are indebted to a substance that surrounds us as a solid, a liquid, and a gas -- often all at once. Its presence in our lives as a physical and cultural force is so vital that one day (maybe soon) wars may be fought over it.
And it's swimming with stories; bursting with metaphor.
